Final Blog

1. I feel as if this story has a lot of meaning. The guy narrating it is really passionate about it. It really shows me how are some mental illnesses are that we can not change. He tells it very well and it is very deep.
2. The purpose of this article is to tell people how serious Alzheimers is and show that it can be okay.
3. The text structure ties in between description and sequence and order. It describes what it was like for him and his family. It also tells kind of the time line of it all happening.
3. Some text features are the title, it is very bold and really jumps off the page. There are many graphics, there is a picture of him and what seems to be pictures of his mom and family. The author really gets his point across throughout the article.

I believe as if the more boys marked that as true because they don't have to go through what females do every day. I guarantee you that the boys that marked true are probably the ones treating the women that way. If they are treating women that way then they obviously see no wrong in what they are doing. Women still are treated so bad and no one can hide that.

The person I picked for a lollipop moment was Ryan and I washed his car for him.
1. It can improve your quality of life because it opens up so many new things for people. It helps people connect in new and cool ways.
2. Shawn's passions in life are to have fun. My passions in life are to just live simply and be happy with the ones I love.
3. One part of social media is content, you can see so many cool new things. You can see things that are going on in Japan while you're stuck here in Michigan. The other part is consuming. When you post a picture and a bunch of people comment on it and tell you that you are beautiful, that makes you happy.
4. That story is so powerful. That just goes to show that the only reason we don't succeed is because we listen to what people say about us and we feed into that.

1. My lollipop moment was when anyone has ever told me I'm pretty because I struggle with self love a lot. Anytime Ryan ever tells me I'm pretty is such a huge lollipop moment for me.
2. I think she means that we're not worried about not living up to expectations, we are worried about not having the power to do much. I do agree. I know that I am living up to expectations I just don't think I'm doing it very well.
3. Clean ryan's car

1. Classics when your talking about books is a book that impacted you in such a way that you really reread it.

2. a collection of works by which others are measured in terms of literary skill and value.
Some authors of the literary canon are, Shakespeare and Jane Austen

3. I don't think books should be banned. Books demonstrate the reality and sometimes the reality of the world may be too much for some people but they have to know it someday if they want to go into the real world.
Mice of men were banned because of racism, profanity, foul language, and violence.

1. Dust pneumonia is a medical condition that develops due to a lot of dust. One symptom was silicoses.
2. They would rub vaseline in their noses. A severe drought caused the dust bowl.
3. I think I would pack money and any snacks that we may have needed. I would pack clothes and probably some makeup.  It would be really hard leaving everything behind. I would hate it.

1. This PSA was very effective. Especially now because I am starting drivers training and I am going to start driving now. Everything in this PSA was crazy and really impacted my look on driving and how serious it is.

This really means a lot to me because my family struggles with drugs and addiction. This really speaks to me.

4/17

1. When it says that it is bad for health not to have a high school diploma I think about how this could make someone very depressed. This could put someone is such a state of mind that is not healthy because now, they can not get a job and they can not get money and money does make a lot of people happy.
2. People who do have a high school diploma have a lot higher self-esteem and they aspire others, children, and people that are struggling to continue getting their diplomas. People that never got their diploma show kids that it is okay not to get one, that is wrong. That shows kids a wrong path to go.
3. More and more kids drop out every year. I know sometimes, or most of the time, this school gets really boring to me. Every day we learn about stuff we don't even need to learn that we won't end up using in the long run. Some teachers are not very good at doing their job. Some I don't think really even know how to teach and that makes it hard for some kids. Another factor when it comes to dropping out is bullying. Some kids drop out because they get bullied everyday and school just is not a safe place for them. Other kids are just stubborn and would rather stay at home and sleep all day, there is no changing their minds.

1. Grit is the strength of character. We need to have grit to be able to get through things and have the power to do it. When it says the "entitled" child culture I totally agree. These generation kids do not care about anything.
2. This builds that people can plan stuff out and work on it. This is so important because if you want to get a good job and get paid or get an education you have to be able to plan out assignments.
3.  I have some good traits I am good with confidence and kindness. I am very kind and I know how to be nice. I need to work on discipline. I'm not very good at that. Discipline is hard for me because I don't like being told no.

1. I think because now it is so much harder to get a good education and get a good enough job. In the article it says "Men who were born between 1960 and 1964 and graduated from college earned a median of $802,000 in cumulative earnings by the time they were in their mid 40s, up from $687,000 for men born between 1940 and 1944, according to a report released by the Urban Institute last month."
2. In the article, it says better grades lead to studying even after college. Better grades also say something about if you are going to continue on with college and graduate school.
3. It says that the stronger gender was the men. I think yes, it is a lot easier for men to get a job in today's world.

1. I think it's because they accomplished their goals, which were, to accomplish "educational excellence, democratic leadership, and personal growth". I believe that they did just that.
2. The purpose of this article is to let everyone know how serious military school. I also believe that one of the main purposes is the fact that they do teach kids good and strong so that kids can get taught how to act respectful and how they're supposed too. Many kids go there because they are disrespectful, at these places they teach them differently.
3. Here at South Haven high school, everyone is doing such a good job to get us all in line and have responsibilty. The teachers (especially VanDop) push us as hard as they can.

1. I do agree with this. Colleges need to know how you acted in high school, social media shows 75% of how you act. It's very good if they do this because that shows them how your social platform is.
2. Yes I do agree with this. Kids or teens always feel the need to be the center of attention at all times no matter what. They don't care about how people look at them in a good way, they just want to be goofy and try and make people laugh. They never know when to be serious.
3. High school doesn't mark you down on what you post on social media. They do not go and look and advise what you posted. I feel like maybe people in the High school needs to look at what you post and bring it to your attention that you aren't looking so good on social media.

1. I found an apartment near Grand Valley. To lease it is $8610, monthly rent is $680. If we split it we would both have to pay $340.
2. I have to pay $50 for my phone, My gas will cost $20, I will spend $40-50 a week for food. The rest I will use towards extra money for food.
3. Living paycheck to paycheck could be really hard because, what if you miss a day of work? That will drop how much you get by a lot of money.

1. I really want to go into the insurance business. One thing I really like about this field is that I am basically getting it handed to me because my uncle and cousins own an insurance business so its pretty easy to get into.
2. The college I really want to get into has to be Grand Valley. My uncle and cousin both went to Western but I know that there is a good program at GV for business and also for volleyball.
3. The highest you could get paid is about 122,590 and somewhere in the middle would be 48,200.

For this article, it is definitely an involve and inform article.
I think it is problem and solution.
Virtual Reality is really cool. I think a lot of today's activities are all online so why not make it even more fun.

1/30 blog topic

1. So what is non-fiction? Non-fiction is real life events, like for instance, it may be, the news, what is going on in real life.
2. We don't focus much on fiction anymore because we need to focus on real life events rather than being in this fictional world.
3. https://www.nytimes.com/2017/01/30/us/politics/trump-immigration-ban-memo.html?ref=politics&_r=0
This article is about Trump.. ugh... firing an acting attorney general who defied him. Of course, the title grabbed my attention because of this just another thing that shows that Trump is ridiculous.

Written portion of Exam

One of the many problems in today's world is social media. Although the worst sources are phones and computers, television is also another factor in today's corrupt society. Children spend 95% of their time in the house playing video games, watching Netflix, or simply just watching regular television. Kids sit in front of a T.V. or have their phones in their face more and more as time goes on. I believe television and really any other type of access to social media has such a negative impact on society.

TED talk

1. He made the potato seem like it was royal and had guards guard it because, when things get guarded people want to steal it. He made it compulsory for prostitutes to wear the veil.
2. I'm not sure what that means. I think it was pointless to do that because there really is no change besides a few minutes shorter.
3. You can't change reality. A reality is the reality. You can change how people think because it is so easy to teach someone how to do something and why you do it.
